While the Ravena Police Officers who ran a rabid racoon over with their car won’t face charges, the incident makes it crystal clear that local police need training on how to deal with wildlife.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple reached out to the Federation’s Executive Director, Libby Post, and Todd Cramer, the CEO of Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, to develop a training for local law enforcement.

Along with the Albany County Distrct Attorney and NYS Environmental Conservation Police, the Federation’s new Division of Animal Cruelty Law Enforcement will be holding a training entitled “How to deal with sick or injured animals” for local police and animal control officers on Tuesday, April 24th at Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.
