Over 100 folks attended the Standards Webinar for Foster-Based Rescues that the Federation and the NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets presented on Thursday, August 21st. You can watch the entire webinar below–please block out an hour and 20 minutes or so.

The Federation represents the state’s shelters and a growing number of rescues at the State Capitol. We are responsible for the establishment of the Companion Animal Capital Fund and work closely with the ASPCA and Humane World for Animals to pass forward thinking animal policy such as Shutting Down the Puppy Mill Pipeline Act (no more sales of puppies, kittens or rabbits in pet stores), banning discrimination in homeowners and renters insurance based on the breed of dog one owns and mandating the reporting of animal abuse by veterinarians. We are also at the forefront of fighting animal crimes with policy initiatives as well as working with the NYS State Police to provide training to their members in addition to our annual Animal Crimes Conference.

We hope you find the video and supporting materials helpful. The Fed is a membership based organization. If you’re not a member, please consider joining. Click here for our membership application.

Over the last three years, the NYSAPF Education Fund has provided low-cost/no-cost consulting Standards Consulting Services to close to 90 organizations across the state. These consults provide you with a road map of what needs to be done to meet the standards. For more information on those consults, click here.

For more information on the standards and editable policies and procedures, go to www.nysapfedfund.org and click on Standards Resources on the main menu.
