There’s been a lot of talk about bail reform. One of the unintended consequences is how the new law affects SPCAs, Humane Societies, non-profit and municipal shelters who care for animal seized in cruelty cases. The Federation, with the help of Assistant Albany County District Attorney Jennifer McCanney, has compiled a one-pager that explains how shelters have to maintain records of care that need to be turned over to local DA offices.
