The Fed has been working closely with Assistant State Senate Majority Leader Michael Gianaris, Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, the ASPCA and the Humane Society of the United States on introducing a pet sales ban bill (S4234/A6298) that prohibits the sales of companion animals (dogs, cats and rabbits) in pet stores. The bill will enable animal shelters to hold adoption events at these locations with no money changing hands between the pet store and the shelter.
